Double Page Spread Development

 Here is my Double Page Spread Development for my Magazine.

Reflection:
This part of the project was really hard for me. I had a lot of trouble trying to decide how to design my double page spread. It was like walking through a maze with my eyes closed. I made a big mistake by finishing my final submission before I even drew any sketches. That shows how lost I was. When I saw my friends' amazing spreads, it made me feel even more frustrated with my own work. And to make things worse, I ended up staying up all night to finish it, so I didn't have any time to get feedback or make improvements.

Now I realize I need to do better and stop leaving important things until the last minute. Next time, I'll make sure to start working on this part of the project earlier. Even though it was really tough, I'm glad I finally finished this reflection. Now, I need to work on the Critical Self-Reflection and finish it before school starts. This whole experience has taught me a lot about managing my time better and staying focused.

I managed to find a couple Automotive Double Page Spread on Pinterest to gave me some idead for my Double Page Spread. Moreover, reflecting on my experience creating the AS Level Media Studies double-page spread has been quite the journey, filled with both excitement and difficulties. At the start, I turned to Pinterest to find ideas for automotive double-page spreads, hoping to discover images that would make my project shine. However, despite the many wonderful designs I found, none seemed quite right for what I had in mind.

This led me to think hard about why these images didn't fit and what I could do differently. I realized that they just didn't match the vision I had for my project, which taught me that choosing the right images is really important.

Although it was disappointing not to use the Pinterest images directly, I learned a lot from the experience. It pushed me to think creatively and find new ways to solve problems, rather than giving up when things got tough.

This experience also showed me how important it is to think carefully about the context when selecting images for a project. While Pinterest is a great source of inspiration, I now know that not every image will be right for every project.

This is my Contents Page Development for my Magazine

Reflection:
I really enjoyed working on this part of the project because it allowed me to tap into my creativity and produce something that exceeded my expectations. Planning with sketches and images was crucial for me, as it provided a roadmap for completing the project efficiently.

Researching was surprisingly easy and quick, taking me only about 15 minutes. Once I had a basic layout for the contents page, the rest came together smoothly.
However, I regret not seeking my teacher's feedback earlier, as I left it until the last minute. Despite this, I believe my work meets the standards expected by my teacher.
One area where I struggled was time management. While the project was enjoyable, I found it challenging to balance my schedule effectively.
Filling in the blog felt tedious at times, but completing each post gave me a sense of accomplishment.

I've come across two examples of automotive magazine contents pages during my research. However, I regret to say that I won't be able to directly apply their layouts to my own magazine's contents page. The reason being, the layout they use doesn't suit the type of image I have chosen for my magazine. Nevertheless, I still find these examples valuable as they provide insight into common conventions within the automotive magazine genre.

Reflection:

This phase of the project has been particularly enjoyable for me, as it allowed me to tap into my creativity and gain a deeper understanding of the conventions within my chosen genre. I made sure to document every major change along the way by taking screenshots, which proved invaluable for tracking my progress. However, I did face challenges in completing this part of the project in a timely manner, mainly due to procrastination. I realize the importance of improving my time management skills and finding a better balance between my academic commitments and other responsibilities.

Reflection:

Initially, I perceived this process as somewhat nonsensical because I felt confident in my knowledge. However, upon learning and applying this method to my project, I now recognize the importance and necessity of this aspect of the learning journey. I consistently referred back to my sketches while creating my front cover and contents page, realizing their crucial role.

Typography: Serif fonts are used in the magazine because, serif fonts can convey a sense of sophistication and tradition, which might be fitting for business and lifestyle sections. They can also enhance readability in longer articles.  
Image: A classy rich looking gentlemen has been selected for the cover. A cowboy shot was used in this cover to make it look cool. The subject has been posed sitting down with one legs up which suggests a gentlemen pose. The subject dressed elegantly making him look professional and charming.
Language:  The magazine strapline is "Playboy, Gambler, Mystery Man" suggests a charismatic and enigmatic figure, blending the allure of a socially active playboy with the thrill-seeking nature of a gambler and an air of mystery, creating a persona that embodies style, risk, and intrigue.
Representation: The image in the cover aligns with potrayal of a classic old money gentlemen. Old money gentlemen are often depicted as individuals with a deep connection to tradition and family heritage. Reflection:

Upon reviewing this magazine's double page spread, my initial reaction was one of disappointment. The formatting left much to be desired in my eyes, displaying a disorganized layout with inconsistent text spacing and sizing. I couldn't help but find it rather unappealing.

What stood out to me was the absence of several key features that I believe are essential for my magazine. Elements like a captivating pull quote, clear subheadings, elegant drop caps, and a mode of address that directly engages the target audience were noticeably missing.

This double page spread, unfortunately, failed to ignite my creative spark. However, I am determined to turn this disappointment into motivation. I am committed to putting in the effort needed to create a double page spread for my magazine that is nothing short of exceptional.

Technical Skills (Online)

Throughout the project I encountered a lot of technical problems. In this blog post I will detail how I solved the problems. 

Problem: Unable to Embed a Document into Blogger

Embedding a document into Blogger during my AS Level media studies presented a significant technical challenge. It required adaptability, resourcefulness, problem-solving skills, and patience. I had to explore alternative solutions, break down problems, and persevere through multiple attempts. This experience taught me valuable lessons applicable not only to media studies but also to life in the digital age.
